Synopsis:

You think I eat a lot now? That's nothing. Tune in December 31st, when I will stream a live webcast of my last meal. Death row inmates get one. Why shouldn't I? I can't take another year in this fat suit, but I can end this year with a bang. If you can stomach it, you're invited to watch ... as I eat myself to death.

So starts Butter, the story of a lonely 423-pound boy everyone calls 'Butter'. Worse than being ridiculed for his size at high school, he is simply ignored. Desperate, he pledges to eat himself to death live on the Internet - and everyone will watch. When he makes this announcement online, he expects pity, insults, or possibly sheer indifference. Instead, his classmates become morbid cheerleaders for his deadly plan.

Yet as their dark encouragement grows, it begins to feel a lot like popularity. And that feels good. But what happens when Butter reaches his suicide deadline?

Readers will be surprised to find themselves identifying with both the bullied ... and the bullies.

Review:

This is a confronting topic to me. Because it is a very real thing that is in society. (Not the eating until you die on webcam thing, but just being obese and high school in general).

Butter is a sixteen year old boy living in Arizona who is obese and lonely. Butter creates a site called 'Butter's Last Meal' which gain the attention of his classmates.

Suddenly Butter is popular and has friends. This makes Butter wonder if he should really follow through with Butter's Last Meal. But the closer to the date it gets, the more Butter notices things aren't all that nice about his friends. But starts to question everything and everyone. He stops eating, and actually for the first time in ages, is losing weight.

And then its New Years Eve. and that is all i'm going to say.

Okay, I loved this book, it was GREAT. it was sad, funny, good, entertaining, confronting and interesting.
It was really well written, especially the aspects of being obese and bullying in high school. And how horrible it can be.

This isn't a light read, but is really great. It also made me not want to eat ever again. But alas I did.
